How to Keep your Skin Hydrated During Colder Seasons

Anyone else struggling to keep your skin from dehydration in the winter time? Well, you are not alone! When the air outside is coldand dry, the water in your skin evaporates more quickly; this makes your skin feel dry and tight, and makes it look flaky. In fact, your skin loses more than 25 percent of its ability to hold moisture in the winter.

There are plenty of things a person can do to protect their skin from such harsh weather. Love your long hot showers like I do? I bet you spend an extra few minutes in them when its colder outside, but avoiding this is one way to help keep your skin from drying even more.

Find the Perfect Aesthetician
Finding an aesthetician that you love and trust is especially important. Living in the DFW area and need a referral? I got you! Jessica Kimmell at Renew Beauty Med Spa (Located inside the North Park mall in Dallas or inside the Stonebrior mall in Frisco) is my favorite. Not only does she provide amazing services, but she is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to skin.

“When dealing with dry skin, I always recommend using a rich cream at night so the product can sink into the skin while you are sleeping. Doing so will allow you to wake up extra hydrated, and you will not need to apply a heavy moisturizer during the day. Another great way to help with dry skin is to combine the Dermaplaning treatment with the HydraFacial treatment. The Dermaplaning treatment exfoliates the dead, flakey skin so that the HydraFacial serums can penetrate deeper for better hydration.” – Jessica Kimmell

How Hydrated Skin Makes for Better Makeup Application
We have probably all experienced applying foundation on flakey, dry skin, and being frustrated with the end result. It is not cute. Taking care of our skin, especially in these colder months, is incredibly important. Your skin comes first, and makeup will always be second.
